Sure, it <em data-start=\"255\" data-end=\"263\">seemed<\/em> like everything was under control, but truth be told\u2014I hadn\u2019t had a grip on anything for quite a while. Things just\u2026 happened. My e-book got published, I managed to sell most of the stuff from my apartment, a new passport and travel insurance got sorted, a few plane\/boat\/train tickets bought, some accommodation booked. All that was left now was to pack and hand over my apartment. That\u2019s when the panic of throwing things into boxes, trash bags, and my backpack kicked off. Where did my belongings eventually ended up\u2014only time will tell. Like I said, control? Haven\u2019t seen her in weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"838\" data-end=\"1246\">Packing a backpack for an undefined amount of time is a fun little existential crisis exercise. Spoiler alert: I eventually gave up on the idea of <em data-start=\"978\" data-end=\"988\">just one<\/em> bag\u2014there simply wasn\u2019t enough space, and I wasn\u2019t about to travel the world with only socks and underwear. So what do you pack when your trip could last for anywhere between 4 to 12 months (depending on how fast you burn your money\u2014and, you know, luck)?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1248\" data-end=\"1278\"><strong>Here\u2019s what I had to consider:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"2273\">\n<li data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1409\">\n<p data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1409\">I plan to mostly be somewhere WARM, where I can float around in light, breezy clothing. Think a few dresses, shorts, some tops;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1410\" data-end=\"1624\">\n<p data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1624\">sportswear is non-negotiable, so in go running clothes, gym wear, and swimwear (one-piece, bikini, cap, goggles). If I have to settle with home workouts, one set of resistance bands should do the trick;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1625\" data-end=\"1817\">\n<p data-start=\"1627\" data-end=\"1817\">my journey starts in Scandinavia\u2014mainly Norway\u2014a land of jaw-dropping nature and outrageously expensive accommodation.
